Lodge collecting old computers, hardware

April 10, 2006

Antietam Masonic Lodge 197 of Keedysville will be holding a community computer recycling event Saturday, April 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Little Antietam Community Center.

The community center is in the old elementary school building at 40 Mount Vernon Drive.

The lodge will collect old computers, monitors, scanners and other computer-related accessories. The old systems will be reprogrammed or disassembled for parts to build systems for use by seniors who want to connect to the Internet.

Trudie Holder from Shepherd University will conduct an on-site beginner's class in Microsoft Excel at 2 p.m. You must bring your own computer for this class.

David Rider of Precision Computer Repair will speak about Internet viruses and what can be done to help protect your home system.
