According to the results of a survey and focus groups conducted by Washington County Hospital, here are the top five health education needs for four demographic groups in the Tri-State area:

Parents of children 12 and younger

1. Common childhood illnesses

2. Immunizations for your child

3. Providing a healthful diet for your child

4. Physical activity and fitness for your child

5. Use of car seats, booster seats and seat belts

Teens and young adults ages 13 to 21

1. Preventing sexually transmitted diseases

2. Eating a healthful diet

4. Preventing unwanted pregnancy

5. Preventing auto accidents

Adults ages 22 to 54

1. Eating a healthful diet

2. Increasing physical activity and fitness

3. Controlling or reducing your weight

4. Heart disease

5. Diabetes

Adults ages 55 and older

1. Eating a healthful diet

2. Heart/circulatory disease

3. Increasing physical activity

4. Stroke

5. Controlling or reducing your weight
