City hires firm to install liners in sewer mains

April 08, 2006

The City of Hagerstown's Water and Sewer Department has hired the firm of Am-Liner East, Inc. to install liners in sanitary sewer mains in the northeast and southeast quadrants of the city. Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday the contractor will begin the first phase of this work on Jefferson Street near its intersection with Wood Street, according to a city press release.

The contractor will be placing equipment on Jefferson Street, and no parking signs will be posted near the work area. Motorists approaching the work zone should expect to encounter flaggers, barricades, traffic control signs, and temporary wheel ramps to allow traffic to drive over the contractor's pipes and hoses. The work in this area is expected to continue through Friday, April 14, although the actual duration of the work will depend upon the conditions that the contractor encounters.

Future phases of the work will follow the sewer lines in Jefferson Street to North Cannon Avenue, and then along Cannon Avenue to Memorial Boulevard.
