"Are you a liberal or conservative, are you left or right? These are tags used by the press, politicians and talk show hosts to try and fit everyone into a category for their benefit. I don't buy into the tags, I see myself and most Americans as neither and a little of both. We can and do believe in what we see as right and wrong and don't fit either minority group. I think we should believe in ourselves and forget the tags."
"It ceases to amaze me what people find to complain about. Now it is basketball hoops on the street. I don't believe for a minute that parents 'just tell their kids to go out and play in the streets!' as the complainer suggested. Yes, drivers do have to watch for them (always have) but haven't we been taught since the driving age of 16 to be defensive drivers? So what if it takes you a few seconds more ... yes, seconds to get to where you are going! Reminder: It is a residential area so you should be cruising through slowly anyway. All these people that complain about the kids and their activities must have forgotten that they too were children once. I live in the Carroll Heights area and have for many years and it brings me great joy to see neighborhood kids getting along and shooting hoops together, doing something constructive and getting exercise."

"Unless we were born and raised in the U.S. as an American Indian, all of us are immigrants. As far as the comments being made about illegal immigrants, I feel that as long as they are not robbing our welfare system or selling drugs, it can be a win-win situation for everyone, when many of these folks take the jobs nobody else wants, and the apartments and cars that nobody else wants. Now how can that be a problem?"
"I'd just like to thank everyone who keeps parking in my wife's handicapped spot on King Street, across from the hospital. You've probably made the city $3,000 or $4,000 in the last three years. We appreciate it and the city appreciates it. When you see numbers, you know it's a private spot, yet people keep parking there."
"On Monday, my mother lost a money order at Weis. It was for her rent. It would be nice and honest if whoever found it would turn it in at the desk, where we left our name and number."
"I got a letter from the City of Hagerstown telling me that I have to repair a curb in front of my house. My house is in the Wilson Boulevard area. I do not own the curb or the sidewalk, and I don't see why I should be responsible for paying for the concrete and replacing the sidewalk. I did not damage it; it was hit by numerous cars turning the corner. I just want to thank the city for a beautiful and gracious letter."
"Among the ideas from Mr. Maginnis on how to improve Hagerstown, one notable one was missing. That was to bring back the trolley cars, real ones on tracks under wires, especially considering the growth of Hagerstown, with things like the new hospital and new developments on Dual Highway."

"This is in reference to the comment from the Greencastle caller that if anyone should protest the war in Iraq, it should be the military that are serving there. If the military serving there would protest, they would probably be kicked out of the military and court martialed."

"This is to the judgmental lady who commented about young people. Most of us parents have truly done all we can. I took my children to church all the time until they turned 15, when they began to refuse to go. I cannot tie them up and take them there. All young people go through a period of rebellion. I pray for my children every day, waiting for their conscience to be reawakened."
"I watched the women's wrestling match called the Final Four, between Maryland and North Carolina. Please tell me what a foul is."
"I'd like to know how the Washington County Planning Commission can justify allowing all of these housing developments going up. I think that the planning commission should be elected positions and not appointed positions."
