Students from South Hagerstown High School and Boonsboro Middle School were named Youths of Month for February on Tuesday at the Washington County Commissioners meeting.
Lindsay Nicole Steiner, a senior at South High, received the high school Youth of the Month award. Cortney Silvis, an eighth-grader at Boonsboro Middle School, received the middle school award.
Lindsay has a 3.71 grade point average and has perfect attendance since kindergarten, according to a written statement.
She's a member of the Honor Club and treasurer of the National Honor Society. She also participates in Key Club, International Club, Diversity Achievement Council, Student Government, and the Homecoming and Prom committees, according to the statement.
Cortney has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll and Honor Roll in sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
She has been captain of the basketball and volleyball teams at Boonsboro Middle; played softball in the Washington County Youth League; and served as treasurer of the Student Council, according to the statement.
