Man robbed at gunpoint in Hagerstown

A man walking in the 100 block of North Prospect Street was allegedly robbed at gunpoint and pistol-whipped Tuesday morning, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.

Police said the alleged victim was walking in the 100 block of North Prospect Street at about 1:50 a.m. when he was approached by a man who "announced a robbery."

The alleged robber showed the gun, struck the man in the head with it and then took the man's belongings, the release states.

The alleged robber is described as a white male in his 30s who is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds, police said. He was described as wearing a black hooded jacket and blue jeans.

The victim sustained a minor head injury and was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment, the release states.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call them at 301-790-3700.
