The neighbors of a Hagerstown woman found dead in her home Sunday said they had not seen her for more than a week.

Tracy Dennis, 28, was found in her third-floor apartment at 102 E. Baltimore St. about 6 p.m. Hagerstown Police are investigating the incident as a suspicious death.

Sgt. Paul Kifer said a preliminary cause of death most likely would be available today.

Patti Wellech, who lived next door to Dennis, said she had an 8-year-old son who lived with Dennis' parents in Frederick County, Md.

Dennis was married earlier this year, Wellech said, and was starting a new job soon. Dennis had been working at Bob Evans Farms restaurant, Wellech said.

She also was a student at Hagerstown Business College, Wellech said.

"She was just a good person," Wellech said. "She was really nice."

Dwayne Bovey, who lives with Wellech, said he did not believe Dennis had any health problems that might have contributed to her death.

"She just didn't deserve this," he said.

Bovey said Dennis' son often came over to his apartment.

"He was a beautiful little boy, very polite and well-mannered," he said. "He talked to you like an adult."

Cecil Robinson, who also lived next door to Dennis, said he was close with her and sometimes looked after her son.

He saw her March 25, when Dennis came over to use his phone, Robinson said. Her car was missing, and she needed to call the police, he said.

Robinson said Dennis also was planning on moving out of the state soon.

"She didn't deserve it," he said. "She was well-loved. She didn't do anybody wrong."
