April 04, 2006|by TIFFANY ARNOLD

BOONSBORO - The Town of Boonsboro hired a full-time planner and a temporary, part-time zoning administrator, officials announced Monday.

Derek Meyers, a graduating senior at West Virginia University, will start as the town's full-time planner in May, Town Manager John K. Kendall said.

Meyers will be paid about $33,000, Kendall said.

The town's current planner, James Brittain, said he would stay long enough to serve as a mentor for the new hire.

"From the interviews, he carried himself very well," Brittain said. "I think he'll be an asset."

Jennifer Hamilton will be hired as the town's part-time zoning administrator until the end of the fiscal year. Hamilton was hired at a rate of $7.50 an hour and will work a maximum of 20 hours a week, Kendall said.
