Mercersburg 2-3, Lawrenceville 1-8

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Mercersburg Academy split a doubleheader with Lawrenceville but, most importantly, won the first game, which is the one that counted for the Mid-Atlantic Prep League standings.

In the first game for Mercersburg (3-2, 1-0), Cord Heine hit a solo homer in the fifth for a 1-0 lead. After Lawrenceville tied it with a run in the sixth, the Blue Storm won it in the eighth on Josh Edgin's two-out RBI single. Edgin and Ryan Colby (1-1) combined to pitch a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts.


Mercersburg 4-2, Lawrenceville 3-10

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Mercersburg won its first-ever softball game in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League.

Cree Riley set the table with a two-run home run in the first inning and the Blue Storm (3-2, 1-1) jumped to a 4-0 lead after three innings.

However, Lawrenceville gained a split in the doubleheader with the nightcap win, scoring 10 runs despite only six hits.


Lauren Dobish and Cree Riley each had a pair of hits for the Blue Storm.


Storm teams second at Potomac Relays

McLEAN, Va. - Mercersburg Academy finished second in both the boys and girls team standings at the Potomac Relays.

Josh Light, Jordon Exeter, Austin Young and Brad Williams won the 400-meter relay in 44.8 seconds and Light, Exeter, Williams and Tyler Mort won the 800 relay in 1:37.5 for the Blue Storm.

Madi McConnell, Lena Finucane, Laura Diller and Maddie Deupree won the 3,200 relay in 11:46.5.
