A woman in her 20s was found dead Sunday about 6 p.m. in her East Baltimore Street apartment in Hagerstown.

Hagerstown Police said her death was considered suspicious.

"We treat it as a homicide until we determine otherwise," Sgt. Paul Kifer said.

The woman was found alone in the apartment in the 100 block of East Baltimore Street, police said

Kifer said the cause of the woman's death was not known.

A preliminary cause of death was expected to be known today after an autopsy is performed, he said.

Police closed East Baltimore Street from Locust Street to Mulberry Street during the investigation.

The investigation was continuing.
