ANNAPOLIS

Del. Richard B. Weldon was taken Friday to Anne Arundel Medical Center after his blood pressure rose.

House Minority Leader George Edwards announced Friday afternoon that Weldon, R-Washington/Frederick, had been hospitalized and that medical staff were planning tests.

Emergency staff at the hospital later confirmed that Weldon was there.

Del. Christopher B. Shank told The Herald-Mail that he had spoken to Weldon, and that following some tests, Weldon planned to leave the hospital Friday night.

"His blood pressure shot up pretty high, and he thought it best to check it out ... He sounded in good spirits," said Shank, R-Washington.
