Keedysville pupils part of the winning battle of books team

Keedysville residents Ethan Allnutt, Rebecca Bushko, Abbey Duncan and Michael Roy formed one half of the winning Boonsboro Elementary Battle of the Books team in county competition Saturday, March 25, at Eastern Elementary School. Boonsboro residents Sean Anderson, Brooke Fisher, Meghan Sikes and Elle Nogle competed the Boonsboro Elementary team, which called themselves "Ballistic Books Are Back," since they placed second place in the competition last year and were determined to win this year.

The team, coached by parents Terry Allnutt and Adriana Bushko, outscored seven other county teams to win the championship after placing first in the written competition held Tuesday, March 7, at the Masonic Temple in Hagerstown. Battle of the Books teams are required to read and study 20 books to prepare themselves for two rounds of competition. This is the 19th year of the Washington County Battle of the Books competition.
