March 30, 2006

GREENSBURG, Pa. - For the 15th consecutive year, Allegheny Power, a subsidiary of Allegheny Energy, is joining the Washington County Community Action Council to sponsor the Community Energy Fund. The fund helps low-income customers pay heating bills.

During the 2004-05 winter heating season, more than $168,000 was credited to the electric bills of approximately 1,000 customers in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. This year, Allegheny Power is more than doubling its previous commitment level.

When customers contribute to the Community Energy Fund in 2006, Allegheny Power will match 50 cents for each dollar contributed up to $117,000.

To contribute to the Community Energy Fund, call Allegheny Power at 1-800-255-3443 or write to the Washington County Community Action Council, 101 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
