St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Hagerstown, a special day of reflection for men will begin at 9 a.m. today and continue through 3 p.m.

The theme is Making, Breaking and Keeping Promises. The Rev. Kevin Gillespie will explore themes of promises made to self, family and others using Biblical figures as models of discernment.

Downsville Church of the Brethren, 8228 Dam No. 4 Road, an open house and information fair will be held today from 3 to 6 p.m.

Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Cavetown, the Smithsburg Area Church Association will be sponsoring Tuesday afternoon services during Lent.

This week, the Rev. Julie Brigham will be speaking at the noon service. A soup and sandwich meal follows in fellowship hall.


Living the Questions, a five-week Lenten study with the Church of the Apostles UCC and Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro, Pa., will be held on Thursdays at 6 p.m. through April 6 at the two churches.

This week's theme is Restoring Relationships and will be held at Apostles.

A potluck supper is included.

Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, a pork and sauerkraut dinner will be held Saturday, April 1, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Tickets for adults cost $7.50, for children 3 to 12, $3.50, and free for all younger children.

Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, David Radcliff, formerly a member of the Brownsville church staff in the early 1980s, will host special services April 1 from 5 to 7 p.m., with a light supper, and April 2 at 9:30 a.m. on the topic, Caring for the Earth.

Now the director of New Community Project, Radcliff has led learning tours around the world and teaches environmental ethics and globalization.

Wolfsville United Methodist charge, the Rev. Steve Blakemore will be evangelist for the April 2-6 crusade.

Services will be held nightly at 7:15 p.m. at Garfield United Methodist April 2 and 3; at Pleasant Walk United Methodist April 4, and Salem United Methodist April 5 and 6.

Bible study will be held April 3-6 at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Walk.
