SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Westley Jenkins had two hits, including a grand slam, to lead Jefferson over Urbana on Wednesday.

Justin Carey had 10 strikeouts and gave up only two runs to record the win in his first varsity start.

Joe Wilt homered and Brian Collins added two hits for the Cougars (2-0).

Danny Pfister had a home run and a double for Urbana (0-1).


Goretti 18, MSD 0

Elena Prieston struck out seven and St. Maria Goretti (1-2) cruised past Maryland School for the Deaf.

Berkeley Springs 12-12, East Hardy 2-7

BAKER, W.Va. - Berkeley Springs poured it on at the plate in a doubleheader sweep of East Hardy on Wednesday.


In Game 1, Amanda Bowers had four hits while Jessica Vanorsdale, Katie Kesecker and Kayla Myers added two hits each for Berkeley Springs. Amanda Waltman gave up four hits in a complete-game victory.

Sam Zahnow and Ashley Hovermale had three hits each in the nightcap while Bowers added two hits and Kesecker was the winning pitcher in relief for the Indians (2-1).
