Head Start to offer literacy curriculum

Head Start of Washington County received a contract Tuesday to offer the Children's Literacy Initiative curriculum to children through age 5.

The County Commissioners on Tuesday awarded the contract for $31,440 for the first year and $14,900 for the second year.

Head Start will serve 372 children in 13 classrooms, according to information provided by the county.

The curriculum is aimed at preparing "socio-economically disadvantaged" children for school.
