If you know someone from this class who is living out of town, please pass this information on to them. This was a large graduating class and it is a challenge to keep track of everyone.

Deaf sign choir

St. Andrew's United Methodist Church will be hosting the Christ United Methodist Church of the Deaf Sign Choir from Baltimore on April 30 at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public with light refreshments to follow. When: Tuesday, April 11, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - An overview of how children communicate and practical uses of things you already have for communication purposes.

Day 2 - April 25, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - Make it/take it session. Making a simple communication system based on your child's communication needs. Special instructor will be Carol-Miller Schultz and Becky Grove, autism specialist. Free childcare will be available and pre-registration is required. Koontz Scholarship available at South

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a female graduate of South Hagerstown High School in honor of Sherry Koontz, who championed equity in education, sports and labor relations.

The money awarded ($1,000) shall be used to pursue education beyond high school. Special consideration will be given to students who strive to improve the quality of life in our community, be it local or global.

To qualify, the applicant must be a female senior at South Hagerstown High School and show evidence of financial need (the last page of your parents' tax forms for the year must be submitted.)

An essay of two pages or less, which explains: your understanding of how stereotypes hurt our culture, how you've worked toward equity in the past, or what you have done (or plan to do) to improve the quality of life in the community, and how your receipt of this scholarship might help the aforementioned situations must be included.

Also, include an attached information sheet about you, which gives a biographical outline, and evidence of financial need.

Applications must be received by May 1. Late applications will not be considered.

Mozart concert at museum

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will present a concert celebrating the works of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) on Sunday, April 9, at 2:30 p.m.

Kathleen Rosenfeld and John Wickelgren will perform violin, piano and vocal works on a journey through the varied musical genres of Mozart.

Classical guitarist to perform April 2

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, as part of the celebration for Art in Bloom Weekend, will present classical guitarist Candice Mowbray performing throughout the galleries on Sunday, April 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. Art in Bloom, a fundraiser for the museum, hosted by Town and Country Garden Club and Hagerstown Garden Club will showcase the artistic talents of floral designers from the 25 regional members of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland.
