A 62-year-old Williamsport man was charged Friday with threatening to blow up the Washington County Permits and Inspections office, according to a Sheriff's Department written release.

Charles Leroy Hose Sr., of 12306 Cedar Ridge Road, was charged with arson/threat, a misdemeanor offense, which carries a maximum $10,000 fine and/or 10 years in prison, Sgt. Roy Harsh said in the release.

Hose is charged with calling the county Permits and Inspection office at 80 W. Baltimore St. in Hagerstown and "threatening to 'blow the place up,'" at about 8 a.m. Friday, Harsh wrote in the release.

The telephone call was traced back to Hose, the release alleges.

Hose was interviewed, arrested and taken before a District Court Commissioner Friday afternoon, Harsh wrote.
