Church to hold spring revival

Samples Manor Church of God will hold a spring revival from Sunday, March 19 to Sunday, March 26, featuring the following speakers and special music nightly:

Keedysville to hold Lenten services

The annual Keedysville Community Lenten Services have expanded this year to include Trinity Reformed UCC in Boonsboro and Christ Reformed UCC in Sharpsburg. All services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. The following is a schedule and location of the various services:

March 15 - Lenten service at St. Peter's ELCA, Keedysville;

March 22 - Lenten service at Salem UMC, Keedysville;

March 29 - Lenten service at Mt. Vernon Reformed UCC, Keedysville;

April 5 - Lenten service at Christ Reformed UCC, Sharpsburg;

An Ecumenical service will be held at Trinity Reformed UCC in Boonsboro on Good Friday, April 14.

Ruritan to hold community supper

The Rohrersville Ruritan Club will hold an oyster, ham and turkey family-style supper on Saturday, March 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Ruritan School in Rohrersville. Bring containers for carry-outs. The supper will cost $13 for adults and $6.50 for children 6-12. Children under 6 are free. The Ruritan School is off Md. 67, four miles south of Boonsboro and eight miles north of U.S. 340. Lions to sell country ham sandwiches

The Sharpsburg Lions will sell country ham sandwiches for $2 by phone order until Monday, April 3. The sandwiches may be picked-up Thursday evening, April 6, after 5 p.m. or will be delivered Friday, April 7. Call 301-739-8245 or 301-733-8874 to place your orders.

The Sharpsburg Lions Club will join with the Boonsboro club for the March 16 meeting. Other regularly scheduled activities planned by the Sharpsburg Lions for the month of February are as follows:

New Market District Big Twenty (March 18);

Kitzmiller Lions Club Annual Shrimp and Cabin Stew Dinner (March 20);

Middletown Lions Club 75th Charter Night (March 27);

Tri-State Meeting, Lovettsville, Va. (March 28).

Regular meetings are held at the Lions Den at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Main Street in Sharpsburg.

Lohmans take cruise in Caribbean

Roger and Shelva Lohman, of Burnside Bridge Road Sharpsburg, spent a seven- day Gaither Homecoming Eastern Caribbean Cruise aboard the Ms. Zuiderdamship from Feb. 18-25.

The Lohmans departed from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Saturday and during the week visited Half Moon Bay, Bahamas, Philipsburg, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Nassau, Bahamas.

The Gaither Homecoming Orchestra played two concerts each night of the cruise, although one of the concerts was marred by tragedy when the pianist, Anthony Burger, died of a heart attack during his performance.

Despite this misfortune, the Lohmans enjoyed "a wonderful cruise and vacation."

Cemetery to start spring cleaning

The Samples Manor Cemetery Committee will start March 15 spring cleaning for Easter. The committee asks all persons who have placed memorial items such as flowers and statues on the graves of loved ones to remove and collect these items, or the Cemetery Committee will be obligated to dispose of them. The committee reminds visitors that rules, dates and regulations are posted at each entrance to the cemetery.

Church to hold revival services

Sharpsburg Bible Church will hold revival services starting Sunday, March 19 through Wednesday, March 22. The Rev. Neville West will speak. The Sunday service will start at 6 p.m. The Monday through Wednesday services will begin at 7 p.m. Sharpsburg Bible Church is at the corner of Antietam and Potomac streets in Sharpsburg.

Mt. Briar First Church of God to hold revival

The Mt. Briar First Church of God will hold a revival from Sunday, March 19 to Wednesday, March 22, at 7 p.m. each evening. Preaching and special music will be featured each evening:
