Warm weather over for area

March 14, 2006|by ERIN CUNNINGHAM

The temperature Monday peaked at 80 degrees, but it was not high enough to break a Washington County record, according to an AccuWeather meteorologist.

Bob Larson couldn't say what the highest recorded temperature for March 13 was, but he said it was at least in the mid- to upper 80s.

"It was very warm and unusual for March, but not a record-breaker," Larson said Monday night.

The average high temperature for March 13 is 51 degrees, he said. The average low is 30 degrees.

Monday's high is the average high temperature for June 6, Lawson said.

"So, to say it was like spring would be an understatement," he said. "It was actually summer. But since this is March and not June, it will not last and we're going to have colder weather coming up."

Today's temperature was expected to remain in the 50s and drop to 40 degrees Wednesday.

"This little warm spell is coming to an end," Larson said.
