Shepherdstown community calendar

March 22 - Shepherd University President David Dunlop and Contemporary American Theater Festival Producing Director Ed Herendeen will be the featured speakers at the Shepherdstown Men's Club's March 22 dinner meeting in the Men's Club Building on German Street. They will present the university's revised plans for a new Center for Contemporary Arts. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. following a 6:30-7:00 p.m. cocktail period. The program will begin at about 7:45 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Admission to the dinner is $10 for Club members and nonmembers alike. March 22 - Join filmmaker Les Blank for a gumbo dinner based on Marc Savoy's recipe (featured in Blank's film, "Yum, Yum, Yum.") The dinner at the Yellow Brick Bank in Shepherdstown will start at 5 p.m. and will precede the showing of two of Blank's award-winning "real food" films ("Yum, Yum, Yum" and "Garlic is as Good as Ten Mothers") at the National Conservation Training Center outside of Shepherdstown at 7 p.m. The films are free.
