Police search for gunman in Thursday shooting

A 29-year-old Hagerstown man was shot in the lower leg Thursday at 11:23 p.m. on a walkway at Washington Gardens Apartments, Hagerstown Police Department Sgt. Paul Kifer said.

The shooting victim's injuries were not life-threatening, Kifer said.

Police on Friday were searching for the gunman involved in the shooting in front of 1006 Security Road, Kifer said.

The gunman was described as a black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall and in his late 20s to early 30s, Kifer said.

Police believe the shooter fled in a black or dark blue four-door vehicle, Kifer said.
