Charges forwarded in July shooting case

Probable cause was found Thursday to forward attempted murder and other charges to Washington County Circuit Court placed against James Malone in connection with a July 21 shooting, according to District Court records.

District Judge Ralph H. France II made the ruling on all counts at the close of Malone's preliminary hearing Thursday, records state.

Malone, 25, whose last known address was 1017G Noland Drive in Hagerstown, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, handgun on person, use of a handgun in the commission of a violent crime and illegal possession of a regulated firearm, court documents state.

Malone is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $855,000 bond, a jail spokeswoman said Friday.

On July 21, Malone allegedly shot Terrail Anthony Blair in the lower abdomen, groin area in Court 4 of Noland Village at 10:58 p.m. Blair was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment and survived, according to charging documents.

Police determined that bullets also had struck some buildings - even entered some apartments - and parked cars during the shooting, charging documents state.
