March 10, 2006

A Clear Spring man who was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after an accident Feb. 17 has been moved to a rehabilitative hospital, his mother, Lori Hinze, said Thursday.

Shane Steven Blair, 18, was seriously injured Feb. 17 after losing control of his all-terrain vehicle at about 4:35 p.m., Maryland State Police have said.

Hinze said that Blair, after spending 20 days at Shock Trauma, has been moved to Kernan Hospital in Baltimore.

"He's making slow but positive steps toward recovery," Hinze said.

She said she wanted to thank everyone who has shown the family support throughout Blair's recovery.

Blair was operating the vehicle in a field behind a residence in the 14700 block of St. Paul Road in Clear Spring when he rode through a ditch and lost control, police have said. The vehicle flipped over and struck Blair, who was not wearing a helmet, police said.
