Pa. woman killed in W.Va. crash

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - A 20-year-old Mercersburg, Pa., woman died Wednesday night when she lost control of her car and crashed into a tree, according to Berkeley County Sheriff's deputies.

Andriea Kristeen Lopez was driving north on Interstate 81 when she lost control of her car about 5:30 p.m., police said. Lopez was about one-half mile from the Virginia state line when she crashed into a tree not far from the highway, police said.

Witnesses who saw the crash told police Lopez swerved toward the center lane and into the median, police said. Witnesses said Lopez jerked the wheel and swerved off the east side of the highway, police said.

Officers were still investigating what caused the crash.

Lopez was taken by ambulance to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, police said.
