Coffman Nursing home holds Sweetheart Candlelight Dinner-Dance

March 09, 2006

Coffman Nursing Home held its first Sweetheart Candlelight Dinner-Dance on Feb. 14.

This year's King and Queen of Hearts, Joseph Divelbliss and Elizabeth Bragunier, presided over the event. They were chosen as royalty Feb. 13 at the home's annual Valentine Party.

Registered dietitian Katie Vandermer and dietary supervisor Kim English planned the event.

The residents' dining room was decorated with white linen tablecloths and red linen napkins, rose petals, candles, dishes and stemware.

There was a large archway decorated with hearts and a disco light, where residents could dance and have their pictures taken.

Each resident could invite two family members to the event. During the day, the women had their hair and nails done, and light makeup was applied. The men and women were dressed in red and pink, with some of the men wearing red sportcoats.

The dietary department cooked a meal of chicken cordon bleu, rosemary potatoes, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, homemade rolls, strawberry dream cake, sparkling cider, coffee and tea. Staff members helped serve the meal.
