Home Show 2006 provides resources for both indoor and outdoor home improvements

Got home projects? The 2006 Home Show has more than 170 area businesses willing to help you out.

Each year thousands of people visit the annual Home Show and walk away with ideas and resources for building or selling a home, renovating or redecorating, says Debi Turpin, executive director of Home Builders Association of Washington County.

"It's all about the home," Turpin says. "Most anything you need, you can find someone (at the show) that can tell you what you need to know."

Displays about indoor and outdoor improvements and projects for every corner of the home will fill Hagers-town Community College's Athletic, Recreation and Community Center arena. Companies will showcase products such as fencing, swimming pools, blinds, cabinets, roofing, flooring and furniture. Landscaping, engineering, masonry, well-drilling and paving services also will be at the show.

"You can quite literally walk in the door with an idea - or without an idea - and you could find someone to draft a house, then find someone to build the house" and provide all the services in between, Turpin says.

The Home Show, a project of the Home Builders Association of Washington County, will include prize giveaways, seminars and a kids zone with family activities, Turpin says.

This year's kids zone includes sand and foam art projects. At 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, and Sunday, March 12, Lowe's will hold a wood kit clinic at which children can make wooden items.

The following seminars are planned for this weekend's Home Show at Hagerstown Community College:

Saturday, March 11

10 a.m. How to pick the right flooring - Learn what to consider when choosing new flooring.

11 a.m. Inside your castle - Learn what is needed to be fully protected if you experience a major loss of possessions.
