Al-Anon/Alateen family groups



Hagerstown and Frederick, Md., area. This is an anonymous, confidential support group for anyone affected by a family member's or friend's drinking. There are no fees. Call 1-301-663-6626 for a listing of meetings in the area.




Bereavement support for those who have lost a child



Today, 4 p.m., Rest Haven Funeral Home. This is an ongoing support group led by Mary Hedges, licensed, clinical social worker, for parents who have lost a child of any age. The free group is accepting new members. Call 301-733-3575.




'Kids and Grands' grandparents as caregivers support



Tuesday, March 7, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Covenant Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 11833 Greenhill Drive, Hagerstown; off Jefferson Boulevard. The group is open to any relative caring for a child of a relative and meets the first Tuesday of each month. A speaker or speakers from Hagerstown Community College will address the topic, "Open Communication." Child care and a light supper is provided. Transportation is available, but call to schedule as soon as possible. National Alliance for the Mentally Ill

The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month to educate and inform residents of Washington County about mental illness and to support individuals with mental illness and their families and caregivers.
