Giant, Martin's offering discounts on gas

March 06, 2006

CARLISLE, Pa. - With gas prices on the rise, Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets are hoping to alleviate some of the pressure at the pump, encouraging customers to "shop, pump, save" with the launch of Gas Extra Rewards. By shopping at Giant or Martin's, customers can receive a discount the next time they fill up their gas tanks at any Giant/Martin's gas location.

For every $100 spent at participating Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets using a Bonuscard, customers will receive 10 cents off per gallon of gas the next time they fill up. There is no limit to how many Gas Extra Rewards points a customer can earn and each qualifying grocery dollar will be accumulated at the bottom of the grocery receipt as a Gas Extra Rewards point. Points that have been earned at participating stores that do not have an on-site gas station can be redeemed at stores that offer gas.

To redeem the points, scan your Bonuscard at the pump and choose "yes" if you would like to use your earned Gas Extra Rewards discount at that time. Then select your payment options and grade of gasoline and pump. Once 100 points have been redeemed for 10 cents off per gallon of gas, a customer will need to begin accumulating points again by shopping at a participating Giant/Martin's store.

Customers also have the option of choosing to allow their Gas Extra Rewards points to build.

For example, if $300 were accrued on a customer's Bonuscard, he or she would be eligible for 30 cents off per gallon on the next fill-up. Points can be earned through April 1 and can be redeemed until April 15.

As is true with other Extra Rewards programs, Gas Extra Rewards promotions will be offered periodically throughout the year at participating Giant/Martin's locations.
