Martinsburg church welcomes new rector

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -

The Rev. Julie Nan Harris has been called to be the rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Norborne Parish, in Martinsburg, effective Feb. 1.

Harris comes to Trinity after serving as the interim rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Canton, Ohio. A 1996 graduate of General Seminary, New York, she has also served as an interim rector and assistant rector in several Ohio parishes.

Harris moved to Martinsburg in late January and celebrated Holy Eucharist for the first time Feb. 5.

Harris comes to a congregation with deep roots in the rich history of Martinsburg and Berkeley County. Norborne Parish was established in 1771, with the original church built in 1776 at the corner of South Street and Maple Avenue.

Today, Trinity Episcopal Church is at 200 W. King St.

Worship services are held Sundays at 7:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist Rite I; 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist Rite II (nursery available); and Christian education for all ages at 9:30 a.m.

On weekdays at 8:30 a.m., there is morning prayer; and on Wednesdays at noon, Holy Eucharist Rite II and healing service.

Choir practice is held Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. with Ronald Grubb, choir and organ master.
