Bulldogs earn playoff spot



The Hagerstown U16A Bulldogs have earned a spot in the CBHL/PHAHA hockey playoffs.

The Bulldogs will open the tournament Saturday against Greater Hampton and will play two more games Sunday. If they go unbeaten this weekend, they will qualify for the Southeast District playoffs in Fort Myers, Fla., March 17-19.

Adult softball league seeks one team



The Saturday Tavern Softball League is looking for one more team for the 2006 softball season. All games will be played at the Pinesburg softball complex and each team will play a doubleheader for 10 weeks starting on May 6. Umpires clinic



Little League District I will conduct an on-field umpiring clinic on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at National Little League in Hagerstown.

Shepherd 7, West Virginia Wesleyan 5



SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherd University hit four home runs, including Dirk Webb's fourth of the season, in the Rams' victory over West Virginia Wesleyan.

Joe Cook, Nicky Brown and Andrew McCormick also homered for the Rams, while Webb had two hits and three RBI.

Cook added two hits and two RBI of his own for the Rams (6-2). Scott McCormick worked six innings from the mound, giving up four hits, two earned runs and striking out three to earn his second victory on the year.
