Lt. Col. David N. Ramsey was recently deployed to Iraq.

Since being commissioned a second lieutenant (engineer) in 1986, Ramose has served in many commanding officer assignments in the National Guard and on active duty, most recently at Fort Meade in Maryland.

Ramsey is a graduate of South Hagerstown High School and the University of Maryland. A competitive runner, he has run the Boston Marathon, the JFK 50 Mile and many Army events.

The son of Master Sgt (USA Retired) and Mrs. William D. Ramsey of Hagerstown, he and his wife, Sharon, reside in Carroll County.

Air Force Airman Brittany L. Reeder, daughter of Richard Reeder and June Heimberger, both of Hagerstown, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Reeder is a 2005 graduate of Smithsburg High School.




Navy Hospitalman Apprentice Michael H. Tolleson, son of Kathy and Bill Tolleson of Chambersburg, Pa., recently reported for duty at Naval Hospital, Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Tolleson is a 2003 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and joined the Navy in June 2005.




Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Tabitha L. Sweet, daughter of Lisa and Luis Femenia of Brunswick, Md., and her fellow shipmates completed a scheduled deployment while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa, homeported in San Diego.

USS Tarawa conducted Maritime Security Operations (MSO) and participated in exercise Bright Star 2005, along with France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the United kingdom, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Sweet is a 2003 graduate of Brunswick (Md.) High School and joined the Navy in July 2003.




Marine Corps Pvt. Benjamin A. Walker, son of Karen A. and stepson of Brian L. Speck of Thurmont, Md., recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.




Navy Seaman Apprentice Andrew N. Hudzinski, son of Martin Hudzinski of Waynesboro, Pa., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.




Navy Airman Recruit Orry K. Clark, son of Shirley K. Funt and Fred H. Clark, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Clark is a 2005 graduate of Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) High School.




Civilian Jeremie K. Bley, son of Iris E. and Michael W. Bley of Greencastle, Pa., recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Pittsburgh.

Bley will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

Bley is a 2004 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.




Navy Seaman Apprentice Daniel A. Barker recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Barker is a 1991 graduate of Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.




Navy Seaman Apprentice Joey E. Stoops, son of Mary W. and Robin E. Stoops of Fayetteville, Pa., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Stoops is a 2005 graduate of Waynesboro (Pa.) Area Senior High School.




Army Pvt. Joshua R. Thrasher, son of Mark A. Thrasher and Denise A. Saylor, both of Martinsburg, W.Va., graduated from the Light-wheeled Vehicle Mechanic Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Thrasher is a 2005 graduate of Hedgesville (W.Va.) High School.




Army Pvt. Meghan E. Mitchell, daughter of Robert Mitchell of Kearneysville, W.Va., and niece of Cheryl Knapp of Damascus, Md., graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Mitchell is a 2003 graduate of Poolesville (Md.) High School.
