Scout completes Eagle project

February 24, 2006

Kyle Zittle of Troop 136 in Halfway has completed his Eagle project, the last requirement for the highest award in Boy Scouts, the Eagle Scout.

Kyle's project was to extend the Therapeutic Gardens water system at Western Maryland Hospital Center. This is to increase the size of the gardens behind the hospital. It will enable the patients and residents to enjoy the gardens during their recovery.

Tim Bryan and Greg Morris of Beaver Mechanical provided instruction, information and guidance in the completion of the project. The company also cut two driveways to make it easier to dig a trench for the new pipeline which connects to the existing line. Beaver Mechanical also donated the plumbing supplies for the above-ground hydrant. Kyle built four birdhouses and four squirrel boxes for the gardens.

The following Boy Scouts and leaders from Troop 136 assisted with the project: Don Gehr, Brian Langmyer, Earl Rice, Earl Socks, Bentley Straley, Elley Buonocore, Little Zittle, Terry Zittle, Josh Socks, Michael Langmyer, Spencer Nally, Sam Socks, Tyler Rice, Nick Buonocore, Alex Potter and Andy Asper.
