Top youth tenpin bowlers compete in tournament

The Top Ten Invitational Youth Tenpin Tournament was held earlier this month at Dual Lanes in Hagerstown.

The boys and girls carrying the top 10 averages from Dual Lanes, Southside Bowl, Pikeside Bowl in Martinsburg, W.Va., and Terrace Lanes in Frederick, Md., bowled in a five-game scratch format, with the top two boys and girls advancing to the state finals in Cumberland, Md., on April 2.

Eric McPherson and Aaron Hershberger were the winners in the boys division. McPherson tossed games of 237, 300, 204, 212 and 214 for a 1167. Hershberger rolled 193, 225, 258, 234 and 243 for a 1153 total.

Lynzie Wolfe and Amber Sandy were the winners of the girls division. Wolfe tossed games of 160, 240, 179, 256, and 234 for 1069 while Sandy rolled games of 200, 173, 201, 235 and 165 for a 974 total.

For the perfect game, his second at Dual Lanes, McPherson will receive a plaque from Dual Lanes and an award from the United States Bowling Congress.
