Bluebird savers honored by board

The bluebirds around Boonsboro High School will spend this spring in new homes, thanks to students.

On Tuesday, the Washington County Board of Education honored high schoolers Katie Gadway and Brianne Martz - who earned service-learning hours through their efforts to help the bluebird population - with Golden Apple Awards.

According to information provided by the school system, the girls met and exceeded the graduation requirement of 75 hours of service-learning time, but they have said they want to continue with the project.

Katie said Tuesday night she plans to graduate from Boonsboro as a junior this summer, while Brianne graduated this winter.
