Hooked rugs workshop is Sunday

February 21, 2006

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - As part of the hooked rug show hanging in the Ice House Gallery, the Morgan Arts Council presents show curator Mary Klotz in an introduction to and survey of rug hooking techniques workshop on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Ice House.

Klotz is a longtime hooked rug teacher and owner of Forestheart Studio near Frederick, Md.

"We'll be looking at the tools, supplies and techniques used in hooking rugs," said Klotz, "but this is more an introduction for beginners as well as collectors than a project-making session."

Klotz also said that traditional rug hookers will be able to expand their knowledge of alternative techniques and tools.

The "One Loop at a Time" hooked rug show hangs in the Ice House Gallery through March 19.

The gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Ice House is at the corner of Independence and Mercer streets in downtown Berkeley Springs. Participants may register with the teacher at 301-845-4447.
