Youth tenpin bowler Stephen Young broke the Dual Lanes record and city mark for a prep boy (ages 9 to 11) while competing in the Saturday Morning Dual Lanes Youth League.

The sixth-grader at Northern Middle School tossed a 248 game - breaking the record of 246 shared by Jesse Gutekunst and Aaron Davis. One week later, he tossed a 253 game.

"Everything was in the pocket," Young said of his record performances. "I had eight straight strikes in the 248 game and seven in a row in the 253 game."

Young has been bowling tenpins for seven years, mostly at Dual Lanes.

Although he plays football in the Washington County Junior Football League and baseball in Valley Little League, bowling plays an important role in Young's sports calendar.

"I started getting a little nervous in the games because I was throwing so many strikes," Young said.

For his effort, the youngster will receive two plaques from Dual Lanes.
