Orchestra seeks members

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Cumberland Valley School of Music Community String Orchestra is accepting new violin, viola, cello and string bass musicians who are comfortable playing in third position (first violin to fifth position).

Rehearsals will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 28 and March 7, 14 and 21. The performance will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at Wilson College's Thomson Alumnae Chapel, 1015 Philadelphia Ave.

Auditions for "Boys"

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Apollo Civic Theatre will hold auditions for the play "The Boys Next Door." Roles are available for seven men and two women. Volunteers are needed to help with costuming, props, set construction, painting and lighting; also with make-up, hair-styling, stage crew, ushers, concession stand. Those auditioning will read from the script.


Auditions are from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at Apollo Civic Theatre, 128 E. Martin St. The play will run in late April. For information, call 1-304-263-6766.

Photo contest concluding

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Council for the Arts and Sprint Yellow Pages have announced the 12th annual photography competition. Submissions are due by 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, and must be accompanied by an entry form. Entrants are limited to five submissions.

The winning entries will be published on the covers of the three Sprint Yellow Pages directories that will be distributed in Franklin, Fulton and Washington counties this summer.

Winners also will be awarded a $100 savings bond. Second place winners will receive a $50 savings bond.

The winning entry will be announced at a reception at the council's offices on Friday, April 21. All entries may be viewed by the public at that time.
