Bus tour planned to Constitution Center

February 12, 2006

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -

The Scarborough Society of Shepherd University and the Shepherd University Foundation will sponsor a bus tour to the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia on Friday, May 5. The bus will leave Shepherd at 8 a.m. and return at 7:30 p.m.

A Colonial-style lunch will be served at the City Tavern before going to the center for a multimedia performance and access to museum exhibits. Ray Smock, director of the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies at Shepherd University, will accompany the tour and give an insider's talk about his work in creating the exhibits at the museum. His research helped create the exhibit of life-size bronze statues depicting the moment of the signing of the Constitution in September 1787. Smock served as the model for the Ben Franklin statue in the exhibit.

The cost, including lunch and museum fee, is $75 per person. A commitment is required by Wednesday, March 1. For information, call Phyllis Smock at 1-304-264-0560.
