HB 730 - Allows a commanding officer of a fire company in Washington County to appoint no more than 12 members of the fire company as deputy sheriffs.

HB 731 - Alters the definition of "new permanent full-time position" for purposes of property tax and state tax credits granted to business entities that construct or expand business premises to include, for Washington County, contract positions lasting at least 12 months.

HB 732 - Authorizes the Washington County Board of County Commissioners to hire more than one attorney for the Washington County Board of County Commissioners.

HB 733 - Authorizes Washington County to honor certificates of guarantee issued by specified nonprofit associations of contractors or on behalf of specified contractors in order to satisfy county bond requirements. Hearing scheduled Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. in the House Appropriations Committee.

HB 735 - Authorizes the creation of a state debt in the amount of $50,000 for the acquisition of weightlifting and other athletic equipment for the Hagerstown Police Athletic League.

HB 736 - Authorizes the creation of a state debt not to exceed $100,000 to the Washington County Agricultural Education Center Inc. for the planning, design, construction and capital equipping of the Rural Heritage Transportation Museum.

HB 1063 - Amends the Discovery Station at Hagerstown Loan of 2001 to change the location of the Discovery Station at Hagerstown project.

HB 1064 - Authorizes the creation of a state debt in the amount of $50,000 for the construction of exhibits and renovation of the Discovery Station at Hagerstown site.

HB 1065 - Reduces from 110 percent to 105 percent the maximum homestead property tax credit percentage for the county property tax in Washington County.

HB 1066 - Alters the period of time that Washington County deputy sheriffs are required to be placed on a probationary status; and provides that a Washington County deputy sheriff having the rank of major or below, rather than lieutenant or below, has tenure.

HB 1407 - Provides that for nonresidential addition construction, a building excise tax imposed in Washington County applies only to that portion of the construction that exceeds the gross square footage of the nonresidential building prior to the beginning of construction for which a building permit has been issued; authorizes the County Commissioners of Washington County to provide individual exemptions for specific construction projects.

SB 163 - Provides exceptions to the prohibition against operating or riding on a motorcycle without protective headgear. Hearing scheduled Feb. 16 at 1 p.m.

SB 314 - Provides for an income tax credit for renewable energy to cover facilities placed in service on or after Jan. 1, 2006, but before Jan. 1, 2011; expands the definition of qualified energy resources under the credit; requires the Maryland Energy Administration to issue initial credit certificates to qualified energy producers and energy aggregators or brokers under specified circumstances; allows the credit to be claimed in addition to the federal income tax credit for renewable energy.

SB 334 - Alters the membership of the Tri-County Council for Western Maryland; alters the method by which specified members are selected for membership to the Tri-County Council for Western Maryland; provides for specified limitations on the terms of at-large members of the Tri-County Council. Hearing scheduled Feb. 23 at 1 p.m.
