YMCA offers scuba, day camp, swimming lessons

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Waynesboro Area YMCA is offering the following activities:

Scuba - Classes start Saturday, March 11, and run seven Saturdays. There will be no class on Saturday, April 8. Information can be picked up at the Y, ask for Emily. Equipment rental is included in the cost of the class.

Day camp registration - Reserve your child's space in this summer's YMCA Day Camp programs. Registration is now open.

Sports conditioning - Grades nine through 12 sport specific training. Contact James.

Group exercise - New group exercise: Yoga, pilates, step, aerobics, cardio fit and more. Call for details.

Youth swim lessons - The next session starts Monday, Feb. 20. Registration opens Monday, Feb. 6 to the currently enrolled, Monday, Feb. 13, for members and Wednesday, Feb. 15, for all others.

Tae Kwon Do - For ages 5 and older, runs continuously through the year. Adult and youth classes available.


Y'all walkers - Free walking in the gym from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m. Monday through Friday. Open to any community member. Call for information.

Troupe schedules dance festival in July

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Goose Route Arts Collaborative Inc. Executive Director Kitty Clark has announced the dates for the sixth annual Goose Route Dance Festival. This year's festival will be held Friday, July 14, to Sunday, July 16, and Friday, July 21, to Sunday, July 23. All events will take place at the War Memorial Building, 102 E. German St.

Festival events include professional performances, classes for professional dancers and children, family shows, and lectures. The focus of the festival is contemporary dance, and choreographers from various locations, including New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shepherdstown, will be featured. Artists selected to perform will be announced in April.

DNR stream sampling classes offered

Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Stream Waders Volunteer Stream Sampling Program is holding three Stream Waders training sessions.

Training sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following locations:

Saturday, Feb. 11 - Howard County Recreation and Parks Headquarters in Columbia.

Saturday, Feb. 18 - ThorpeWood near Thurmont.
