Army Pvt. Jeremy S. McAfee, son of Chris and Lisa McAfee and grandson of Jack and MaeEtta McAfee and Snuffey and Janice Wolfensberger, all of Hagerstown, recently graduated from basic combat training and advanced individual training at Fort Leonardwood, Mo.

McAfee is a 2004 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and attended Hagerstown Community College.

He now is serving a three-year stay with the 25th Infantry Division at Scholfield Barracks in Honolulu, where he is specializing in combat engineering.




Pfc. F. Tyler Collins of Hagerstown, son of Frank and Cindy Collins and brother of Jessica Collins, graduated from U.S. Marine Corps basic training at Parris Island, S.C., on Oct. 28, 2005, and completed MCT Training at Camp Geiger, N.C., on Nov. 29, 2005.

Collins currently is stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. He is attending a 36-week advanced training course in test measurement and diagnostic Equipment (TDME).

Collins is a 2005 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.




Air Force Airman Paul J. Couch, son of Bruce Couch of Muscatine, Iowa, and grandson of Paul Couch of Hagerstown, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Couch is a 2004 graduate of Muscatine High School.




Air Force Airman Michael J. Felicio, son of Heidi and Michael Felicio of Martinsburg, W.Va., has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Felicio is a 2003 graduate of Musselman High School, Bunker Hill, W.Va.




Air Force Airman Taylor L. Funk, son of Betsy Mose of Chambersburg, Pa., has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Funk is a 2004 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.




Air Force Airman Marleana C. Castaneto, daughter of Sallie Price of Lumber Bridge, N.C., and granddaughter of Gretta Uppercue of Middletown, Md., has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Castaneto is a 2003 graduate of Saint Paul's High School, N.C.




Army Spec. Bryan J. Grant, son of Jerri L. Kenyan of Hedgesville, W.Va., and grandson of Evelyn McAvoy of Falling Waters, W.Va., has arrived at Camp Taji, Iraq, to support the mission of the 4th Sustainment Brigade during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He is regularly assigned to Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas.

Grant is an intelligence analyst with five years of military service.

His wife, Amanda, is the daughter of John and Sandra Dominy of Lissie, Texas.

The specialist is a 1996 graduate of Musselman High School, Bunker Hill, W.Va.




Army Staff Sgt. Robert F. Heintzelman, son of Richard F. and Carmella M. Heintzelman of Ontario, N.Y., and husband of Dawn, daughter of James C. and Cheryl K. Lanham Chambersburg, Pa., has arrived for duty at the U.S. Army Recruiting Station, in Newark, N.Y.

Heintzelman, a recruiter assistant station commander, is assigned to the Syracuse Recruiting Battalion. He has 12 years of military service.

Heintzelman graduated in 1985 from Wayne Central High School, Ontario, and received a degree in the year 2000 from Finger Lakes Community College, Canandaigua, N.Y.




Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Chevy L. Kensbock, daughter of Bobbi Dearstine of Frederick, Md., and her fellow shipmates are in the middle of a scheduled deployment while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, homeported in Norfolk, Va.

Kensbock is a 1998 graduate of Thomas Johnson High School, Frederick, and joined the Navy in October 2000.




Marine Corps Pvt. Christopher R. Brady, son of Nancy L. Ringer and Anthony A. Guglielmi of Falling Waters, W.Va., recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.




Coast Guard Seaman James E. Shaw, a 2005 graduate of Governor Thomas Johnson High School, Frederick, Md., recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.




Joshua R. Cobb, son of Twila S. Stewart of Fort Benning, Ga., and Ricky J. Cobb of Falling Waters, W.Va., has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.

Cobb is a 2000 graduate from Spencer High School, Columbus, Ga., and reported to Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga., for active duty on Feb. 2, 2006.
