The Sharpsburg Town Council on Monday adopted a Washington County ordinance that helps ensure schools, roads and other public services are adequate to handle growth.
The Town Council approved the county's Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance (APFO).
The county has asked municipalities to adopt APFOs that are similar to the county's ordinance.
In return, the municipalities will receive a portion of the county's excise tax.
"It's really not going to affect us one way or another," Councilwoman Patti Hammond said.
"It's a copy of the county's (ordinance)," Councilman Russell Weaver said. "It's not a big deal."
