McDonald's scholarship offered

February 06, 2006

McDonald's Family Restaurants of Greater Washington, D.C., will honor high school seniors throughout Washington and surrounding areas who have demonstrated leadership within their schools and communities through the McDonald's Celebrating Diversity Scholars Program.

Student honorees each will receive a $1,500 scholarship to the college or university of their choice and be recognized at an event in March.

The 2006 McDonald's Celebrating Diversity Scholars Program recipients are chosen based on an application and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or community service leader. Students also must submit two short essays detailing lessons they have learned through community service and the importance of education in relation to cultural diversity.

The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 17, and scholarship winners will be announced in March.

For an application or information, call 703-741-7515 or go to www.McDonaldsCollegeExpo.com.
