City man stabbed in stomach during an attempted robbery

A 26-year-old Hagerstown man was stabbed in the stomach Saturday morning during an attempted robbery.

According to the Hagerstown Police Department, David Ryan Brown reported the man tried to rob him in the alley in the first block of Wareham Place, and he punched the man in the face as the man stabbed him in the stomach.

The incident occurred about 7:30 a.m., according to police.

The incident was reported at 8:39 a.m., and officers responded to Public Square.

The man, who was wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt, black boots, a black T-shirt and jeans, is described as a black man between the ages of 40 and 50. He is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds, according to police.
