Wroten, a Roxbury Correctional Institution officer, died Friday, a day after he was shot in the face, allegedly by the inmate he was guarding at Washington County Hospital.

Correctional officers draped their badges with black bands in honor of Wroten for the memorial service at the church.

The crowd overflows outside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Jeffery Alan Wroten's memorial service Wednesday morning. About 2,000 people - most of them correctional officers and employees at Maryland prisons - attended the memorial service.

A funeral service is to be held today in Parkersburg, W.Va., where Wroten's remains will be buried.
