A Hagerstown man was found guilty Monday by a Washington County Circuit judge on 16 counts of child pornography possession.

James Michael Whitacre Jr., 32, of 322 S. Mulberry St., was ordered by Circuit Judge Frederick C. Wright III to be placed on presentence supervision pending the completion of an investigation.

Wright's verdict came after a morning-long bench trial.

A date for Whitacre's sentencing was not set Monday.

Wright merged four counts, meaning Whitacre will be sentenced on 13 counts. The charges each carry a maximum one-year sentence. The four counts were merged because the four images appeared to have been of the same girl.

According to charging documents, police executed a search and seizure warrant at the man's house July 1 and took two computer towers and unmarked CDs. Whitacre was turned in to police by a relative, documents state. Between the computer towers and CDs, police discovered several images and short movie clips depicting boys and girls - many younger than 10 - involved in sexual acts, charging documents state.
