The following area students were named to the Dean's List at Saint Vincent College, Latrobe, Pa., for the fall 2005 semester:

Erin M. Donoghue of Hagerstown, a junior majoring in biology; Connor M. Gilbert of Hagerstown, a freshman majoring in communication; Mary E. Rebert of Chambersburg, Pa., a freshman majoring in psychology.




Andrew Duane Crawford was named to the Dean's List at Shenandoah University, Winchester, Va., for the fall 2005 semester. Crawford is a sophomore majoring in public administration/political science.




Caitlin MacRae was named Volunteer of the Year for 2005 at Camp Still Meadows, a therapeutic horseback riding center located in Linville, Va.

McRae's volunteer activities include grant writing, Web site design and therapeutic riding instruction, in addition to the myriad other duties involved in such a program. She has been a volunteer at the center for five years and became involved through her membership on the James Madison University equestrian team.

McRae graduated from Williamsport High School in 2000, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from JMU in 2004 and will complete the her master's program in technical and scientific communication at JMU in May. She was awarded an assistantship to the program and became a teaching assistant for 2005-06.




Tiffany Hassler of Fort Loudon, Pa., a junior in the Business Data Processing program at the Franklin County Career and Technology Center, recently passed national exams for MOUS (Microsoft Office User Specialist) certification.

Tiffany, daughter of Beth and Tony Verno of St. Thomas, Pa., received certification for Microsoft Office 2000 PowerPoint. She plans to continue her studies in business data processing by going on co-op education her senior year.




Andrea Bowen of Williamsport was named to the Dean's List at Harding University, Searcy, Ark., for the fall 2005 semester. She is a junior majoring in early childhood education.




Justin Daniel Simpson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Lee Simpson of Hagerstown, was named to the Dean's List at Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, Fla., for the fall 2005 semester.




Brittany Harrington of Myersville, Md., was named to the Dean's List at Mitchell College, New London, Conn., for the fall 2005 semester.




James Widmyer of Williamsport was named to the Dean's List at Towson University, Towson, Md., for the fall 2005 semester.

Widmyer, son of Joe and Cathy Widmyer, compiled a 4.0 grade-point average for the semester and has a cumulative GPA of 3.9. He is a 2002 graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School.




Courtney DeHaan of Hagerstown was named to the Dean's List in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt., for the fall 2005 semester.




The following area students were named to the Dean's List at Mount St. Mary's University, Emmitsburg, Md., for the fall 2005 semester:

Anna N. Binau of Hagerstown, a sophomore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Binau.

Whitney D. Cushwa of Hagerstown, a senior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David K. Cushwa.

Rachel L. Hamilton of Brunswick, Md., a sophomore, daughter of Donna S. White.

Natalee J. Henry of Hagerstown, a senior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Craig M. Henry.

Ashley E. Keeney of Clear Spring, a junior, daughter of Cheryl A. Keeney.

Ryan A. Martin of Williamsport, a junior, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry L. Martin.

Matthew J. Reed of Hagerstown, a senior, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis L. Reed.

Erin E. Shoop of Hagerstown, a freshman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Shoop.

Courtney B. Smith of Clear Spring, a senior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Smith.

Molly E. Twine of Hagerstown, a senior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Michael Zimmerman.

Jillian M. Watson of Hagerstown, a senior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Watson.




Renee E. Binau of Hagerstown was named to the Dean's List in the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y., for the fall 2005 semester.




Dominique Michelle Derbigny, daughter of Curtis and Rhoda Derbigny of Hagerstown, was named to the President's List at Elon University, Elon, N.C., for the fall 2005 semester.

The President's List is composed of students who had no grade lower than an A-minus in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Derbigny, a 2003 graduate of North Hagerstown High School, is the granddaughter of Gloria M. Campher.




Lauren Marie Ebersole and Stephani L. Garrett, both juniors from Hagerstown, have been inducted into the Alpha Chi academic honor society at Catawba College, Salisbury, N.C.

They were among the students recognized during the opening convocation for the spring 2006 semester.

Alpha Chi includes juniors and seniors who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and character.




The following Washington County students were named to the Dean's List at Albright College, Reading, Pa., for the fall 2005 semester:

Michael Redick of Hagerstown, a senior sociology/criminology track major. He is a graduate of Smithsburg High School.

Elizabeth A. Springer of Smithsburg, a senior psychology/elementary education/special education major. She is a graduate of Smithsburg High School.




The following area students were named to the Dean's List at Mississippi College, Clinton, Miss., for the fall 2005 semester:

Beth Ann Snyder of Hagerstown and LeAnne Stoneberger, daughter of Harold and Pat Stoneberger of Fairplay.




Evan Phoebus of Frederick, Md., was named to the Dean's List at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio, for the autumn 2005 quarter.
