The Shook Home



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Shook Home was found to be deficiency free during a Department of Health survey Jan. 10-12, according to a prepared release from the home.

The Department of Health is the regulatory agency that inspects all nursing homes and issues nursing home licenses.

This was the fifth time The Shook Home was found to be free of deficiencies in recent years, the release says.

The Shook Home and The Quarters at The Shook in Chambersburg is a 64-bed skilled nursing home, a 42-bed personal care facility and most recently added independent living.

Fulton Financial Corporation



LANCASTER, Pa. - Fulton Financial Corporation has announced that on Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Federal Reserve Board approved the corporation's application to acquire Columbia Bancorp, based in Columbia, Md.

Columbia Bancorp shareholders approved this transaction on Dec. 5, 2005.

Fulton Financial Corporation was awaiting the approval of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

The company anticipated that the transaction would be completed on Feb. 1. At that time, Columbia Bancorp's banking subsidiary, The Columbia Bank, will become Fulton Financial's 15th banking subsidiary.

Fulton Financial Corporation is a Lancaster-based financial holding company that operates 232 banking offices in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia through affiliates, including Hagerstown Trust.

McLEAN, Va. - For the third year in a row, Selling Power magazine has recognized Northwestern Mutual as one of The 50 Best Companies to Sell For.

In the publication's November/December 2005 issue, Northwestern Mutual ranked No. 2 in the service category, up from No. 4 in 2004, according to a prepared release.
