Woman pistol-whipped, robbed on Frederick Street

A woman was pistol-whipped and robbed Wednesday morning in the 200 block of Frederick Street, according to a news release from the Hagerstown Police Department.

The 25-year-old woman was confronted about 3:40 a.m. by a man who demanded money, police said. When the woman told him that she didn't have any money, the man took out a handgun and struck her in the face with the butt of the gun, the release states.

The woman had an injury to her left eye but refused medical attention, police said.

The assailant is described as a black man in his 30s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds. He had a beard and was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap, the release states.
